HMS lecturer placed third in age group at Ironman 2011

Dr Maryna Baard a lecturer in the Department of Human Movement Science participated in the Ironman on the 10th April 2011.

Dr Baard did exceptionally well and came third in her age category.

In 2010 Dr Baard fractured her right arm twice while training for the Ironman. For most of 2010 she could not cycle, due to the injuries. She did base training with distance work from December 2010 to February 2011and has been focusing on cycling since September 2010. Dr Maryna Baard had only been running for 7 weeks before the Ironman event. She did all her swimming training in the ocean.

We would like to congratulate Dr Maryna Baard for not only participating in the Ironman, but for coming third in her age group. What an Achievement!
