Twenty-five new students started classes during the first intensive week of the 7th Programme which will end in July 2014. The Programme will allow them to become familiar with essential concepts of management and marketing. In December, they will discover the fundamentals of communication whilst in April and June 2014 the students will complete modules in law, finance and event management.

Students hail from all over South Africa and Africa including cities such as Polokwane, Cape Town and Durban and countries such as Namibia, Nigeria, Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Dignitaries in attendance at the ceremony included the Dean of Health Sciences at NMMU Prof Victor Exner, the Director of the School of Lifestyle Sciences at NMMU Prof Rosa du Randt, CIES Senior Manager of International Relations, Mr Vincent Monnier, as well as Advocate Daryl Newton and Dr John Burger who are facilitators on the course.

NMMU Programme Coordinator Vernon Oosthuizen commented as follows: “It is essential that we open our Programme to the whole of South Africa as well as to our neighbouring countries. In six years, we have progressed from a local programme with students who were mostly from the Eastern Cape to a genuinely international course.
