The inaugural First-Year Pledge / Oath taking ceremony took place on the 05 August 2022 in the South Campus Auditorium. 

Nelson Mandela University Health Sciences Faculty initiated this significant event to remind students from first year already the values of Mandela University and how they are ought to behave.

  • Integrity.
  • Environmental stewardship.

All 3 programmes from the Department of Human Movement Science which includes the Diploma in Sport Management, Bachelor of Human Movement Science and the Bachelor of Health Science in Biokinetics took the Pledge. The students pledged to be professional, ethical, and responsible towards their studies, fellow community, and the professions they are studying towards.

The students were addressed by the director of school and guest speaker Mr Solomon Mudege who works at FIFA in Switzerland and is now a Senior Development Manager for Soccer in Africa.

Mr Mudege is a proud alumnus of the Nelson Mandela University first graduating with a Bcom in HMS: Sport & Recreation in 2005, MA Human Movement Science and FIFA/CIES/Nelson Mandela University Programme Sport Management graduate. His words to the students were very wise, encouraging and motivating.

The event ran successfully, thank you to one and all who contributed to the event.  We look forward to building on the pledges undertaken by the students today.
