The Ironman African Championships is one of the iconic events held in our city each year. The athletes cover the following distances 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and a 42.2km run. The Ironman African Championship and the 70.3 were held on Sunday 21 April 2024.
Chelsey Cooke (HMS student) and Jason Le Roux (Alumnus and Sport Scientist) did exceptionally well in the 70.3 event (half Ironman). Chelsey came 1st in her age group and Jason 9th.
Other Alumni from the Human Movement Science Department did well in the 70.3 event, including Travers Hendriks (23rd overall and 9th in his age category) and Aidan Tuohy (49th overall and 11th in his age category).
